The Mud&Yarn Teabox (aka Rainbow Surprise)
The Mud&Yarn Teabox (aka Rainbow Surprise)
What began as a simple experiment in curved boxes with brass splines, turned into one of my favorite projects. This asian-inspired quarter-sawn White Oak tea box is all business on the outside, but POW POW 💥💥RAINBOW SURPRISE 🏳️🌈 on the inside!!! Those GORGEOUS rainbow veneers are made from recycled skateboards from the streets of Santa Cruz California and are the work of my man Alex Wong @upcycledskateart in our first of many future collaboration pieces together! The flower is a septet array of blood-wood that was designed and laser-cut by the talented boys of @ventanasurfboards. Pulls are made of solid ebony turned on my drill press using micro lathe tools. If you would love one of these in your life, send me a DM and we can work something out for the next one!
