What started as an experiment ended with this sushi board. Could common Eastern White Pine look beautiful? We use it for studs in our walls and throw away 2x4 projects, but could it look beautiful when presented in the right way, surrounded by complementary colors? I think the answer is yes.
This board features a large flower made of common Easter White Pine with a brass center and black petal divisions. Paired with this are custom made pine chopstick holders atop ebonized carved pucks with brass centers. Architecturally sloping Oak legs give the board a graceful look while elevating off the table. Matching Wenge chopsticks complete the look. Matching ceramic soy sauce dish imported from Japan. Finished with food-safe shellac and beeswax. Approximate dimensions 20”L x 6”W x 2”H
