DNA
DNA
This one is personal, inlaid brass DNA is the centerpiece of an homage to my scientific background. There is no doubt as the beauty to be found within the natural world, both at a macro scale (flowers, leaves, shells) but also at the micro scale (DNA, protein structures, viruses, cellular structures). Yet so few outside the world of science get to see this micro-scale beauty on a regular basis. My vision is to begin integrating some of these elements periodically into my work and this represents a first step. The brass DNA sits atop a piece of stunning quilted maple and underneath a flower made of @ventanasurfboards epic fish-scales (lasercut from Bloodwood and East Indian Rosewood guitar cut-offs from @santacruzguitar ). The maple was left with a live edge (finished in food-safe shellac) revealing the partially ebonized black walnut underneath. Matching Ebony and Bloodwood chopsticks and holders complete the look.
